The National Wedding Show
Posted on 11 March 2017
Last week we popped into the National Wedding Show at the NEC in Birmingham. The show attracts a huge crowd of brides, friends of the brides, mothers of the brides and the occasional groom here and there. If you’ve never been, it’s a huge event where you get the opportunity to meet with a tonne of wedding suppliers. If you want to tick quite a few items off the list or need some wedding ideas it’s a perfect day out.
We visited on the Sunday which is the final day of the show. We watched the catwalk show which featured several beautiful wedding dresses and some menswear thrown in for good measure. There were a few queues to try on dresses at various stands but the dresses looked stunning. I know a fair few people who purchased their dresses at the previous shows so it’s a great chance to try on dresses from various shops without having to make several appointments. If you’re shy then this option may not be for you, you’ll be in your dress in a very busy place for all to see.
Cancer Research were offering their selection of wedding favours. You can chose from several wedding favour options and you donate to the charity per favour. It’s a great wedding favour idea and a gift to a very important charity. I’ve seen the charity pins in organza favour bags many a time and they always look great.
We saw many a sequin table cloth at the show so this trend is definitely here to stay for 2017 (don’t forget to check out our sequin table runners) Everything looks just stunning over sequins. We also saw some incredible floral displays and a couple of flower walls on our walk around. Kim Kardashian’s wedding flower wall has definitely started a huge trend in the wedding world and I’m totally obsessed.
I had a brief catch up with the lovely Caryn at Elite Cakes who’s stand was fabulous as always. She has the most amazing cake flavours, Champagne & Strawberry, Jack Daniels and Fudge and my personal favourite Cointreau and Chocolate. Such a beautiful display of wedding cakes.
There were exhibitors selling handcrafted save the dates, wedding invitations and table plans. Hessian, kraft and lace was shown throughout most collections so the rustic vibes are continuing through this year.
In addition to the obligatory wedding suppliers there were quite a few fun additions to add to your big day. The “Prosecco Pod” obviously was a firm favourite along with the Photo Booth vintage car.
Before we left we collected our goody bag which included brochures and leaflets (incase you haven't collect enough on your rounds) plus some snacks and toiletries samples. I always recommend getting as many leaflets as you can at any wedding fayre then read at home. With so many suppliers and the hustle and bustle it can be difficult to take it all in.
When we were leaving we came across this fabulous “Share Your Love Story” chalkboard which was filled with names and wedding dates. A lovely touch to a wonderful day out. A definite visit for any bride to be looking for wedding inspiration. The next National Wedding Show at the NEC will be the 29th September - 1st October 2017.
